If you have been charged with a violent crime, we will take the steps necessary to ensure that your case is represented properly.

Weapons Offences

As defined in the Criminal code, a “weapon” is anything that can be used, designed to be used or intended for use in causing death or injury to a person or for the purpose of threatening or intimidating any person. Some weapons are illegal to possess while others become illegal once you injure or harm another person. Therefore, almost anything can be categorized as a weapon if the intention was to use it to hurt someone.

In Canada, the unregistered use, possession and trafficking of illegal weapons is considered a criminal offence that carries serious consequences. These offences carry different penalties depending on the type of weapon and the severity of the crime.

Firearm Offences

Firearm offences account for a relatively small proportion of all violent crime in Canada but it can be seriously detrimental to the physical, emotional and psychological lives of those who are victimized or involved in such offences. As defined in section 2 of the Criminal Code, a “firearm” is a barreled weapon from which any shot, bullet or projectile can be discharged and is capable of causing serious bodily harm or death to a person. Firearms are classified into three categories; prohibited, non-restricted and restricted. All categories of guns can be purchased and possessed legally but there are strict requirements for ownership that must be met.
